So, I joined a gym. Finally got off my arse, threw out all the nerves and anxiety and just walked up to the Anytime Fitness near my house, and directly into the door. Okay, so there I was just after 10am Saturday morning. It was cold outside and also happened to be the long weekend in Australia.

It’s been two months since my previous entry, and since then I’ve had two Easters, a week of annual leave and celebrated my 32nd birthday. Thankfully over that now. A year ago I would’ve been feeling the body aches and pains and complaining I’m getting old, but apart from a few grey hairs here and there, I’m feeling good. Better than good, I’m feeling like finally I’ve managed to kick this body issue in the arse, still have plenty of weight to drop, but getting there.

In the last month, I decided that although walking is really good for me, getting my heart rate up to a standard I felt was high enough, wouldn’t happen. Even when walking at my latest pace, my heart rate only seemed to hover around the 104 beats per minute (bpm). And to get it above that, I had to throw in a quick jog to increase the beats.
Fitness Blog 001 I was going to make this part of my Blog Update posts, but after a while, the post grew from a few paragraphs into something…a lot more. So from here on, each time I post something about my weight loss, it will have it’s very own category. That really doesn’t mean anything for you the reader, but for me it allows my creative juices to flow. And flow they will.
It has been almost six months since my last blog update, specifically my last update in regards to my diet. When I last left you, I was at the beginning stages of my diet. I had cut out all Energy Drinks, Soft Drinks and pretty much any drink containing sugar. That was it. Nothing else special, just cut out those drinks and wanted to see what would happen to my body. Fortunately it was doing wonders for me, I shed some weight and felt a lot better in general. However as Christmas approached things changed. I continued to stay away from the sugar drinks but piled on the junk food. I replaced one habit for a lot of another habit. Over the two-week period I managed to gain 5kgs.
Well, not really. I mean I’m changing what I eat, how much and how often. But it’s not a diet. I hate that word, diet. Makes it sound so desperate, like a final attempt at getting into shape. For me, I’m just cutting things back and out.
