X Marks the spot…(17)

I was sitting at my computer desk watching some YouTube, and while casually browsing through my twitter feed, I noticed someone had retweeted a gif from the new X-Men movie, Dark Phoenix. My first thought, ‘why is this still be released?’

Phase 1 (13)

I am pretty sure Disney now owns the film rights to FOX properties which include X-Men and Fantastic Four, so what happens from here?

Producer, Kevin Feige, has been the man behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) since its inception way back in 2008 when Iron Man was released in cinemas across the world. Since then, the MCU has managed to pump out 20 plus films, with more in active production and grossed over $17 billion at the box office making it the most successful film franchise of all time.

Batman Beyond (3)

Lately there has been a lot of talk about a possible Batman Beyond animated movie in the works at Warner Brothers. Not sure if these are rumours, or actual fact, and frankly I don’t care. Just having Batman Beyond in the news brings a smile to my face.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t like Batman as much as people think. While Bruce Wayne/Batman is a great character handled with perfection in the DC Animated Universe, in comics and movies…I just can’t find a Batman I like. Except Hush, that run of comics was amazing.

New Major Comic Event

Before I begin, this was originally a follow-up post to something I wrote over a year ago. It was left unpublished and will maybe one day see the light of day…but not sure yet.

After twenty years of buying and collecting comics, I’m going to stop and spend my money on something else.

As I have mention in some of my blogs in the past, I have been actively collecting a selection of Marvel comics since the mid 1990s. Spider-Man, and anything related, throughout that time I usually picked up. And during that twenty plus year period, buying comics has cost me thousands of dollars and years of entertainment. Characters in comics have been friends as well as inspirations. Yet, as I have found lately, comics have just turned to garbage.

Love and Spider-Man

The following is a blog post simply explaining how and when I fell in love with Spider-Man.

Spider-Man 72I had always been a big fan of the character ever since my dad brought home a comic book, that was the very early 90’s. It was in 1996 however, when Marvel was at the tail end of the Clone Saga, I began reading Spider-Man comics on a monthly basis. The first issue was dated September 1996 and I stood in the newsagent flipping through the issue. Up until that point, my only real exposure to Spider-Man came from the 60’s and 90’s cartoon series of the same name. The latter of the cartoons where season long story arcs were a popular thing. I think it prepared me for comic books in general. When looking at the cover on the shelf though, that was a very different Spider-Man to what I was use to.

BLOG UPDATE 006 – MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE CIVIL WAR

Please know, there will be SPOILERS for the MARVEL Cinematic Universe from previous films and me talking about rumours in the films to come. If you care by now, you have already seen or read all about the Marvel Event which took place in the last 24 hours. If not, seek it out because it will blow your mind.

I’m not here to update on that but I will be speculating a hell of a lot. While seeing all the updates during work, I couldn’t help but feel the need to get my thoughts down. And since this is a blog update, my thoughts are strictly on the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) right now. So consider the following words to be me trying to get my head around all the latest news.
